Each week at our worship services, we eat to God’s glory. Several tasty dishes are brought to the table by a few of our members who are involved in the culinary arts in Chicago. Below is our invitation from food to gospel. Enjoy!
food & worship
The Kingdom of Heaven is a feast. It is a wedding celebration. It is revelry and delight in a house that never knows hunger. “Whether you eat or drink, do it to the glory of God.” What, then, is this glory pursued? “Taste and see.” beckons its God.
Creation’s table is filled with dishes spiced and spiked with wonder. The tongue knows the power of God in the lemon’s bite, His love in the mango’s warmth. “Come,” these beckon, “Taste and see!”
And as night covers the world for a time, the Christian church everywhere gathers at the table of God to eat, drink, laugh, mourn. Their talk is dense with expectation and excitement, each bite one moment closer to the final, magnificent dawn. Outside, the king’s servants roam the streets, looking for the hungry, the unsheltered, the shamed, carrying scents of festival mirth. Their cry rattles windows and echoes down alleys:
“The Master has set the table!”
“The Lord Himself pours the wine!”
“Come! Taste! See!”
